The Alexander Hosea Primary School is a 4-11 mixed village primary school. It is situated in Wickwar, South Gloucestershire. The Alexander Hosea Primary School is a very popular school with an excellent reputation for high standards and an outstanding curriculum that gives pupils a breadth of exciting activities.
Data shows that we are one of the highest achieving schools in the authority with pupils reaching level 4 and level 5 successfully above the national average. Our Ofsted Report highlights our "outstanding" curriculum and outstanding teaching that enables pupils to improve and achieve well as they move through the school.
On being awarded Beacon staus in 2002 the schools shared its expertise with other schools and institutions; we contiue to do this today. Our staff work with other teachers on school improvement, moderation and the training of young teachers. Through this work our committed staff gain experience and knowledge that influences our own school evaluation and improvement.
The school has gained an Achievement Award for excellence and has been listed in the Times Top One Hundred Schools list. It has achieved the Artsmark Gold Standard, International Status and works within a recognised Teacher Training Partnership.
Our facilities continue to improve: we have eleven purpose built classrooms, an outdoor play area, gardens, an excellent ICT infrastructure and large sports field.
