In 2005 Alexander Hosea School achieved  Artsmark, at Gold standard, awarded by the Arts council England, in partnership with the Department for  Culture, Media and Sport; DCSF and Ofsted.  The Artsmark recognizes schools that demonstrate a commitment to providing opportunities in dance, drama, music and all art forms. Our school worked toward this award for three years and is delighted to have our work recognized at such a high standard. 

The Artsmark has given the school staff the opportunity to work together developing their skills and expertise. Subject leaders have worked together to develop many new curriculum opportunities and to share how we assess all subjects. Professional development has been possible as all staff have worked alongside artists and other visitors gaining new ideas or developing the many talents they already had!

We are continuing to provide additional art activities and aim to renew our Artsmark Status in 2009
